👍 The Breakdown
Big week: xAI released Grok 4.6, an upgrade focused on long-running agents and more ambitious interactive and visual work.
The bigger shift is not just that AI can answer better questions.
It is getting better at staying with complex projects across multiple steps… researching, analyzing, building, revising, and turning rough ideas into finished work.
If AI has mostly felt like fancy autocomplete until now, this is the week the tools started looking a lot more like builders.
Here’s what else is packed into this edition…
Skills to Pay the Bills: Build a Positioning Sharpener prompt that takes fuzzy messaging and turns it into a clear, differentiated statement your buyers can understand in seconds.

💰 Skills to Pay the Bills
🛠️ This Week’s Business Prompt Builder: The Positioning Sharpener
Here’s a hard truth…
If a prospect cannot understand what you do, who you help, and why they should choose you in about ten seconds, your messaging is probably costing you opportunities.
The problem is rarely that the customer is confused.
The problem is usually that the pitch is trying to say too much.
This week’s prompt helps fix that.
Paste your current pitch, your ideal customer, and a couple of competitors into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, or your AI tool of choice.
You’ll get back:
a clearer positioning statement
the generic language weakening your pitch
three stronger headline options
customer-focused messaging angles
a clearer explanation of what makes you different
✂️ Copy-Paste Ready Prompt
You are the Positioning Sharpener, a strategic messaging partner for a business whose current pitch may be too vague, too generic, or too focused on features.
First, ask me for:
what I sell
who I sell it to
my current one-line pitch
one result my best customer received that surprised them
two competitors I commonly lose deals to
Then analyze my messaging in four areas:
1. Clarity
Would someone outside my industry understand the pitch in ten seconds? Rewrite anything unclear in plain English.
2. Differentiation
Identify anything a competitor could also say word for word. Replace it with language that is more specific to my business.
3. Outcome
Turn features into clear customer outcomes using only the facts I provide.
4. Audience Fit
Rewrite the message from the buyer’s point of view instead of mine.
Then give me:
One sharpened positioning statement using this structure:
“I help [specific audience] [achieve specific outcome] without [common frustration], through [unique approach].”Three headline variations: plain, bold, and contrarian
Three messaging angles I can test in ads, outreach, or on my homepage
Do not invent results or numbers.
Avoid generic words such as “transform,” “world-class,” “seamless,” or “best-in-class.”
If my information is too vague, ask one clarifying question.
🛠 How To Use It
Copy your current homepage headline or elevator pitch.
Identify your best customer and the result they value most.
Add two competitors prospects commonly compare you with.
Paste everything into the Positioning Sharpener prompt.
Review the clarity and differentiation feedback.
Test the strongest statement on your homepage, bio, sales deck, or next sales call.
One fuzzy pitch.
One prompt.
A much clearer reason to choose you.
💡 Pro Tip
Run this every quarter… or anytime you rewrite your homepage.
Positioning changes as your customers, competitors, and strongest offers change.
Do not assume the sentence that worked a year ago is still the best sentence today.
Stop making AI decisions in the dark.
Leadership is asking: are we getting value from AI? Which tools are worth the spend? Where are we exposed? Right now, most teams have no idea.
Harmonic Security Usage Explorer changes that.
You get a complete picture of how your organization uses AI, automatically categorized into custom tasks and use cases.
You’ll see the projects being worked on, who’s using what tools, where AI investments are driving value, and where employees are engaging in risky behavior.
CIOs can rationalize spending and cut wasted licenses. CISOs can pinpoint where risk exists and neutralize it. AI committees can show exactly how their efforts are paying off.

ChatGPT Can Now Search and Reply to Apple Messages on Mac
ChatGPT’s new Apple Messages plugin lets users on Mac search conversations, catch up on message threads, draft replies, and send messages from ChatGPT Work or Codex. The feature works with Messages on macOS and can help users quickly find old details, summarize conversations, and prepare responses without manually digging through texts. For small business owners, this is another sign that AI is moving from “help me write this” to “help me manage the communication I already live in.” Keep approvals turned on, though… this is powerful, but you still want a human reviewing anything before it leaves your inbox.

AI’s Authenticity Crisis Pushes Tech Companies Toward Greater Transparency
As AI-generated writing, images, music, and other media become harder to distinguish from human-created work, major technology companies are introducing new transparency measures. Anthropic says Claude models released after August 2 will automatically watermark generated or edited text and files, with files using the C2PA open standard, and it plans to extend the system across Claude Code, Claude Cowork, and Claude Tag. Spotify is rolling out “AI Personas” badges for artists that do not represent real people, while Suno is adding watermarking and fingerprinting technology to AI-generated music. Substack has also integrated Pangram so users can estimate how much of a post may have been written with AI.
Grok Launches Imagine 1.5 for Video Animation
xAI introduced Grok Imagine 1.5, an updated model focused on video generation and animation. The release expands Grok’s capabilities beyond text and image-based interactions into more advanced generative media. Video generation has become an increasingly competitive category as AI companies race to improve motion, consistency, visual quality, and creative control.
